CBNII Symposium on Indigenous Inclusion

In September 2023, we are hosting a Symposium on Indigenous Inclusion in partnership with the Central Bank Network for Indigenous Inclusion.

About the symposium

When: 28 to 29 September 2023

Where: Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa | Auckland, New Zealand

This year's event is the second symposium in partnership with the Central Bank Network for Indigenous Inclusion (CBNII) network, following the inaugural first symposium that the Bank of Canada held in November 2021.

Who will be attending?

This event is a forum for central bankers, academic researchers, indigenous organisations, government and policymakers to discuss indigenous inclusion in the finance sector and economy.

What topics will be covered?

The symposium will cover a broad range of topics such as:

  • indigenous financial inclusion and access to capital
  • statistics and data for indigenous banking, including best practice for collection and use
  • indigenous-led approaches to improving financial inclusion
  • indigenous representation and procurement within the financial services sector
  • accessing policy options to improve financial inclusion for indigenous peoples.

These topics will be explored from both New Zealand and international perspectives.

The workshop will host a limited number of paper presentations to allow ample time for discussion and interaction.
