Programme Director Enterprise
Vanessa joined Te Pūtea Matua in 2016.
Vanessa has a broad range of strategic, operational and people leadership skills gained through extensive central banking experience in New Zealand and Australia. Over the past 2 decades, Vanessa has held leadership positions within economics, financial markets, financial stability, operations and enterprise services. During that time, she has also been on secondments to the Australian Treasury and New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
She led the review into conduct and culture in the New Zealand banking sector in 2018 to 2019 and held the position of Director of Financial Markets from 2019 to 2024.
More recently Vanessa has been leading strategic work programmes across Te Pūtea Matua. As Director of Workforce Strategy she was responsible for developing a medium-term strategy and work programme to ensure we have right capabilities, culture and working environment for the future. Currently as Programme Director Enterprise, Vanessa is leading the evolution of our operating model and ways of working to support our transition to a more efficient and agile organisation.
Vanessa holds a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) from the University of Queensland.
