Director of Workforce Strategy
Vanessa joined Te Pūtea Matua in 2016. She is responsible for ensuring that Te Pūtea Matua has the people, capabilities and resilience to achieve its objectives now and into the future.
Vanessa has a mix of strategic, operational and people leadership skills which have developed through extensive central banking experience in New Zealand and Australia. Over the past 2 decades, Vanessa has held leadership positions within economics, financial markets, financial stability and prudential supervision. During that time, she has also been on secondments to the Australian Treasury and New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
She led the review into conduct and culture in the New Zealand banking sector in 2018 to 2019 and held the position of Director of Financial Markets from 2019 to 2024.
Vanessa holds a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) from the University of Queensland.
