John McDermott
Assistant Governor Operations
John leads our Operations Group, which focusses on operational delivery, systems frameworks and people to deliver against our mandate.
He joined us in 2019 and has since been in various executive leadership roles within Te Pūtea Matua. Before transitioning to his current role, he was Assistant Governor People and Technology.
John has extensive public and private sector experience in digital and cyber security strategy, capability uplift and operational leadership. This includes strategic advisory roles at the New Zealand Transport Agency, the New Zealand Fire Service, and Kiwibank.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics and Mathematics from Victoria University of Wellington.
