Our Kōrero — speaking and engagement programme

Find out about our public speaking engagements, how to request a speaker or invite us to be involved in your event.

Our speaking engagements

Kōrero is our speaking and engagement programme, which allows our people to connect with communities and groups across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our speaking engagements range from informal presentations at small gatherings to formal keynote speeches.

We are able to discuss our work, connect with our stakeholders and address questions and issues – we want our work to be well understood and to operate openly.

Some of the topics we regularly discuss include:

  • financial stability
  • regulation, supervision and enforcement
  • monetary policy
  • money and cash
  • payments and settlement systems
  • financial markets.

Publishing speeches and events

Keynote speeches

We publish all keynote speeches in full on our website – this includes the text of the speech, and a livestream or recording, if available. We aim to publish the text of the speech shortly after speakers begin. For these keynote speeches, we will email a media advisory to subscribers before the event.

You can sign up to receive these updates on our sign up page.

Monetary policy related speaking events

Members of the Monetary Policy Committee often speak at public conferences, give presentations or take part in panel discussions about the latest Monetary Policy Statement (MPS).

We will list these public post-MPS speaking engagements on our website, and include speaking notes, if they are available.

Post-MPS presentations are based on the MPS documents and presentation slides published on our website and do not include new information.

Requesting a speaker

We want to speak openly about our work to the diverse audience we serve and will prioritise inclusive and accessible events, which are freely open to media and live-streamed, so all New Zealanders can hear from us as an open and transparent central bank. Our purpose is to enable economic wellbeing and prosperity of all New Zealanders.

We also encourage requests from groups with a specific interest directly related to our work, for example in financial stability, regulation and supervision and policy. We prefer speaking engagements that are online, in order to be more efficient and reduce out emissions. We will confirm the speaker depending on their availability.

Next steps

After we have received completed request forms we consider each request individually and aim to provide a response between 10 and 20 working days. If you can give us as much notice as possible, and as much information as possible, this helps us to process the request – although we cannot undertake every invitation due to the volume of requests we receive.
