New disclosure regime for registered banks

Geof Mortlock

In this article Geof Mortlock provides a general outline of the new public disclosure requirements which have been developed for registered banks, under the Reserve Bank Act 1989. This article backgrounds the new requirements (which for registered banks, will largely substitute for the prospectus disclosure regime established by the Securities Regulations 1983); explains the role of the Reserve Bank in administering the new requirements; and provides a brief explanation of the information which registered banks will be required to include in their disclosure statements, the first of which will be available to the public towards mid 1996.
