Full Programme includes links to PDF copies of papers

We are now just over a week away from the 2012 / 22nd NZESG meeting. The following provides some summary information on the meeting for presenters, discussants, participants, and potential attendees.

The Programme is provided in the link above. It may be subject to further minor changes due to late withdrawals, catering, etc., but we will make updates here and via the emailing list for such changes should they occur.

The final versions of the papers provided for the meeting are available via the links on the Full Programme. These are listed by presenter, rather than by full authorship. For assigned discussants (as per the programme), note that the paper should have been sent to you directly by email (and cc:ed to the presenter). If you have not received the paper you have been assigned to discuss you may request it from us, or simply download it.

A list of presenter/co-author details with the paper titles are provided in the Participant List and abstracts are provided in the Abstract List. However, note that these abstracts are from the original submissions and are provided to help meeting participants and potential attendees to gauge the topic and scope of the paper. They may differ from the abstracts in the final version of the paper provided for the meeting.

Presentation slots will be 25 minutes: 18 minutes for the presentation itself, 4 minutes for the discussant's comments and 3 minutes for general discussion. That compares to 30-minute slots at previous NZESG meetings. Therefore, it will be important to keep presentations and discussions succinct so that each presentation slot remains within its allocated time. Note that we have allocated more time relative to previous meetings for the morning, afternoon, and lunch breaks which will allow for more informal discussion between participants.

We welcome anyone that registers to the meeting dinner, which is is at no additional expense to the registration fee (see below for payment details). We would appreciate an indication of your likely attendance at the dinner to facilitate our booking arrangements, although you may change your mind at any stage, of course.

We remind people of the other matters to attend to at this stage, if not already done so:

  1. Please let us know of any errors etc. on the meeting material we have produced. You may revert at any stage prior to the meeting with any corrections or suggested changes.

  1. Please let us know if your paper/presentation is eligible for the RBNZ-NZESG Awards in Econometrics. At this stage we have four indications of eligibility. To remind you of the award and criteria: the RBNZ-NZESG Awards in Econometrics, accompanied by a cheque for NZ$500, are made to young econometricians on the basis of a panel judgment for their research and presentation at the meeting. To qualify for an Award, researchers should either be working towards a PhD or have completed doctoral research within the past two years. Further details of the Awards are available at

  1. Book your travel and accommodation. If you have not booked accommodation yet, you may find the Bolton Hotel mentioned in the last email no longer has vacancies. However, other hotels within easy walking distance to the Reserve Bank building are Novatel or James Cook on The Terrace, or the Rydges-Holiday Inn on the corner of Bowen and Featherston Street. Once again, a Google search of "hotels wellington new zealand" brings up many hotels within short walking distances to the Reserve Bank (which is at 2 The Terrace on the corner of Bowen Street and The Terrace).

  1. Payment for the conference. The meeting registration fee (for all participants) of NZ$60 may be paid directly into the Reserve Bank's account at any time prior to the start of the conference. The account details are:

Account: 02-0536-0333911-000

Bank: Bank of New Zealand

Branch: Lambton Quay North

SWIFT code: BKNZNZ22985

Please include "1501" in the reference field.

Please email (also contained in the cc: field) with the title:

"NZESG payment" so Emma can confirm your payment.

Otherwise you can pay with physical currency on the day. We do not have the facilities to accept credit card payments prior to the meeting or at the meeting itself.

The information in this email, along with that previously circulated, will be available soon.

Once again, we look forward to welcoming you to Wellington later this month for the 2012/22nd meeting of New Zealand Econometric Study Group. Thank you for your continued support and interest in our meetings.
