South Pacific course on central banking
Tuesday 28 February to Thursday 2 March 2006
Extension: Friday 3 March 2006
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS) of the Bank of England are delighted to announce a course directly aimed at the needs of South Pacific central banks.
The course will cover the following topics:
- central bank governance
- monetary policy: regimes and implementation
- foreign exchange reserves management
- financial stability: economic growth, risk mitigation and crisis management.
An optional extension is planned for the Friday following the course. The RBNZ will schedule a series of meetings with operational departments - Currency, Accounting, Risk and Audit, and Knowledge Services (encompassing information technology) - and with the Financial Stability Department. These sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss issues at both strategic and technical levels.
The main speakers will be Mario Blejer, Simon Gray, and Melanie Lund, of the CCBS, with additional input being provided by staff from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
