Marea is an Adviser in the Forecasting team in the Economics Department. She fulfils the role of forecast co-ordinator, and works together with the forecasting team to produce regular, high-quality forecasts in support of the Monetary Policy Committee’s decision-making process.
Marea has an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford, and is completing an MIT in Big Data Science at the University of Pretoria. She was previously employed by the South African Reserve Bank, initially as part of the forecasting team, and later as a specialist in the macroprudential policy analysis division.
