I wanted to gain practical experience, be engaged with challenging work, and to gain insight into the public sector.
I’ve been assisting the Policy Analyst team in the Economics Department. My focus has been on comparing and identifying trends in cash demand internationally.
The Reserve Bank holds numerous presentations and meetings where you learn about the topics that Bank are engaged in as well as learning how to better your presentations/papers. A few of the other interns and I also partook in the gingerbread house competition and helped out at the Family Christmas Party.
The bank is filled with supportive people who try to help you maximise your time at the Bank. I feel my contribution is valued and have received fantastic feedback about how I can improve my work in preparation for a future career in this field.
Being a summer intern at the Reserve Bank gives you the opportunity to be actively engaged with what you’ve learned in your undergraduate degree and more! It fuels your drive to continue studying and gives you a better gauge on what you are interested in.
