Financial System Policy and Analysis Department
The Bank is responsible for the formulation and implementation of public policy to maintain price stability and support maximum sustainable employment, and to promote and maintain a sound and efficient financial system.
The Financial System Policy and Analysis Department (FSPA) has responsibility for prudential policy as it relates to banks, non-bank deposit takers, financial market infrastructures and insurers, research and thematic reviews, macro prudential policy, and the Reserve Bank’s Financial Stability Report.
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for an experienced Manager to lead our Industry Insights and Thematics team (IIT). You will lead a team of experienced professionals responsible for providing technical analysis and advice to our supervision and policy teams, along with leading thematic reviews across regulated entities. The Manager IIT reports directly to the Head of FSPA.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership and development of a team who are responsible for:
Identifying industry areas to investigate and leading delivery of thematic reviews on risk, governance and compliance across banks and insurers.
Assessing risks to the industries that the RBNZ supervise and their compliance with our regulations – via both in-depth desktop analysis and theme-based visits and interviews with external entities.
Developing, enhancing and maintaining the use of data in the Bank’s supervision work, working closely with RBNZ’s Data and Statistics Department.
Maximising the value of technical and industry expertise within FSPA and identifying areas where these skills can be better used or further advanced.
Delivering technical expertise to the Supervision and Policy teams in the Financial Stability Group: this includes actuarial advice, technical and industry knowledge and data use.
You will have proven experience in leading a team of professionals to achieve excellence with the ability to engage others, make sound decisions and encourage and support innovation. You will need to have extensive experience in the financial sector or financial regulation area in a leadership role with the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation at a senior level.
