The Reserve Bank of New Zealand – Great Team, Best Central Bank

  • These are both senior-level positions offering great variety and a stakeholder engagement focus
  • Fully utilise your analytical capabilities and expert knowledge of financial institutions to make an impact
  • This is your opportunity to raise the regulatory and compliance standards of financial institutions, recommend policy improvements and provide supervisory insights that can make a difference

Do you enjoy a mix of analytical work with stakeholder engagement to gain sound insights? Are you motivated to utilise your well-rounded capabilities in a role where you can make more of an impact on the quality and stability of financial institutions in New Zealand?

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (The Bank) is New Zealand's central bank. Our vision is to be a Great Team and the Best Central Bank. We operate with passion, integrity, innovation and inclusiveness. Our main objective is to promote a sound and dynamic monetary and financial system and to ultimately raise New Zealand's economic wellbeing.

The Role

As a senior member of the Industry Insights and Thematics (IIT) team, you'll play an important role in leading the delivery of thematic reviews on risk, governance and compliance across banks and insurers, assessing risks to the industries that we supervise and their compliance with our regulations. This is done through in-depth desktop analysis and theme-based visits and interviews with firms as well as developing, enhancing and maintaining the use of data in the Bank's supervision.

About You

You would have been in and around the financial sector for a while now so that you've gained a practical understanding of the risks that financial institutions are exposed to. Perhaps you'll have experience in credit risk, liquidity risk, insurance risk or operational risk (ideally more than one of these specialist areas). Other strengths you will be able to demonstrate are:

  • strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • the ability to communicate well to a range of audiences in verbal and written form (including high-quality reports)
  • strong influencing and relationship management skills where you have worked particularly well in the past with external stakeholders

The Adviser level position requires a higher-level of capability particularly in terms of technical and project leadership, including coaching others as well as implementing and inputting into the development of policy to promote financial stability and efficiency.

Why us?

We are a fast moving organisation which is growing and innovating to make a bigger impact on the country that we serve. We're offering a supportive and flexible work environment where you'll be encouraged to collaborate, use your initiative and forge strong relationships with a number of stakeholders that will see you make a tangible impact on the financial services sector.

Our work has a big impact on the lives of all New Zealanders, and we carry that responsibility with pride. If you'd like to join a team of professionals who are passionate about the prosperity and wellbeing of New Zealanders, and contribute to a sustainable and productive economy, we would love to hear from you.
