Steffi Schuster heads up the Data and Statistics department, one of three departments under the Financial Stability umbrella.
The Data and Statistics department plays an important role in meeting the statistical needs of the Bank’s economic, prudential and financial policy and oversight functions, and those of its external stakeholders. This department collects and disseminates financial statistics, and leads the uplift in data capability across the Bank in close partnership with Digital Services and data users.
Prior to this appointment, Steffi was acting Head of Macro-Financial Department and before that, held the position of Manager Statistics.
Before joining the Reserve Bank in 2014, Steffi has worked for Statistics New Zealand and the Office for National Statistics in the UK. She has also worked as a technical expert for the International Monetary Fund.
Steffi has a postgraduate qualification in Economics (Diplom-Volkswirt) from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany.
