Matt Haigh
Director of Data, Statistics and Analytics
Biography
Matt leads the Data, Statistics and Analytics Department, which plays an important role in meeting the data needs of our policy and prudential supervision teams and our many external stakeholders. The team produces and publishes a wide range of data and official statistics, shining a light on banking and financial sector data through regular insight reports and our Bank Financial Strength Dashboard.
The Department also leads our data capability uplift in partnership with colleagues in Knowledge and Information Management and Digital Solutions, and is home to our statistical systems and tools, and our Data Science function.
Prior to this appointment, Matt held management roles at Te Pūtea Matua in Data Development and Statistics. Matt has a background in official statistics, working at Stats NZ before joining us in 2018, where he ran key macroeconomic statistics including the CPI and Balance of Payments. Matt has qualifications in Economics and Law from Victoria University of Wellington.
