Professor Neil Quigley
Neil is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato. He has a BA and MA from the University of Canterbury and a PhD from the University of Toronto. During his career he was Professor of Economics at the University of Western Ontario and Victoria University of Wellington where he taught and published research in the fields of industrial organisation, money and finance and economic history.
Neil has been a director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand since January 2010, and was elected Chair of the Board in September 2016. He has been responsible for leading Board reviews of the Bank’s monetary policy statements from his initial appointment until the introduction of the Monetary Policy Committee in April 2019. Neil has also served as a director of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) since 2010, and is currently both Chair of the Risk and Assurance Committee and Deputy Chair of NZQA.
