Reclassification of SSR housing loans for one respondent

Publication of the September 2009 Registered Bank SSR aggregates includes the reclassification of housing loans previously reported in parts E7 to E10 of the SSR  from October 2008 to August 2009 to Part D2.25.  Housing loans in Part E refer to ‘specified loans off balance sheet’ and are not reported among consolidated total assets reported in the General Disclosure Statements of registered banks.  From October 2008 to August 2009, one respondent’s securitised lending was incorrectly classified in Part E.  The corresponding change in the funding values has been made in part D1.16. Minor reclassifications related to this change also affect parts A, B and C.

The reclassification also causes a minor series break in monetary and credit aggregates (tables C1 and C2) from October 2008.  Part E ‘specified loans off balance sheet’ are not included in credit aggregates and the related funding is not included in the monetary aggregates: the reallocation increases money and credit by an equal amount.
