Revisions to C1 to C10 table formats

These tables were substantially altered, in format and content, at the time the Bank introduced its revised money and credit aggregate series in June 1998.

Since then there have been two significant alterations, the details of which are covered below.

Changes were made to tables C5 and C6 from and including December 2004.

Tables C7 and C8 were discontinued from November 2004.

All other C tables in this group remain as last revised in May 2002 (see below).

Table C5 and C6 changes made in December 2004

Table C5 provides sector credit data for agriculture and business, and summarises the household sector credit data more extensively represented in table C6. These tables (and tables C7 and C8) as they were published prior to December 2004 are available via the link for `discontinued tables' at the foot of the website listing for money, credit and financial statistics.

The data surveys contributing to tables C5 and C6 were extended in scope from December 2004. All registered bank sector credit is now included in them, along with a more comprehensive coverage of non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs). These data were backdated monthly, retaining the integrity of the previous series and linking it on a `like for like' basis. The business sector credit series begins in June 1998: the agriculture and total household claims series commence as before at December 1990. Tables C5 and C6 now distinguish sector credit for households and business by registered bank and NBFI institutional group from June 1998.

Note that while the sector credit series include all relevant sector credit data from the M3 institutions whose aggregates are reported in tables C1 to C4, tables C5 and C6 include substantial credit values from other institutions. Sector credit in tables C5 and C6 includes securitised assets administered by the surveyed institutions.
