Workshop on ‘Housing, savings, and the household balance sheet’ Tuesday 14 November 2006

The Reserve bank hosted a 1 day working session to discuss issues around housing, saving and household balance sheet developments. Specific topics included trends and measurement of household saving, the impact of family trusts, equity withdrawal by households, the adequacy of retirement savings, and trends in saving by age cohorts. Overseas perspectives on saving and house prices were also discussed as were statistical issues relating to the measurement of household saving in New Zealand.
