Banking system operating normally

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand today reported that inter-bank transactions were successfully underway, this being the first working day in New Zealand after the Year 2000 date change.

This morning the banks successfully completed their final transactions from 31 December. Also transactions for this business day have commenced. Tomorrow morning transactions from today will be completed, bringing to a close a full banking day in the new millennium.
