Wellington Living

Great career prospects aren’t all we have to offer you. New Zealand’s capital city is a great place to live and work, and there’s plenty to see and do on your well-deserved days off.

Off-duty, our employees are privileged to a stress-free life in a small city with big city advantages. Think clean, with less traffic congestion. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, shopping, theatres, art galleries and museums to cater for a variety of tastes.

We’re the cultural capital of the country too - home to national favourites the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company, as well as Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, which is situated in a prime spot on our harbour’s edge.

Wellington is also home to several popular annual and biennial festivals and events, including the annual IRB Rugby Sevens tournament, Fringe Festival and the World of Wearable Arts (WoW) show.

Then there’s the scenery. Set between a beautiful harbour and green hills at the bottom of the North Island, Wellington has easily accessible beaches. The South Island is just a ferry ride away across the Cook Strait, and the beauty of the surrounding Wairarapa area less than an hour away by train. Peter Jackson’s film crews and numerous movie stars have worked and played here. It really says something about our surroundings and atmosphere.
