Toby Fiennes

Toby moved from the UK to New Zealand in 2005, initially joining the Reserve Bank as a Special Adviser. In that role, he was engaged in a wide range of projects within the Financial Stability area, including banking supervision and the reviews of the regulatory arrangements for non-bank deposit-takers, insurers and New Zealand’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework.

He started his career in Barclays Bank where he worked in a variety of risk management and marketing roles for 10 years. He then joined the Bank of England, transferring to the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) at its inception in 1998. He worked at the FSA until 2005, supervising a wide variety of international banks, banking groups and other financial services companies.

Toby has a Masters Degree in Economics from Cambridge University, England. He is married with three children.
