Steve Anderson, a Chartered Accountant, joined the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as Chief Manager of Registry in 1989. In 1990 he managed the introduction of the Austraclear service, and the Euroclear and Cedel Bank depository services.
In 1993 and 1994 Mr Anderson served as a technical advisor on Central Bank Accounting to the National Bank of Moldova.
In November 1996 Mr Anderson became Chief Manager of the Accounting Services Department. He was project manager for the Reserve Bank’s Exchange Settlement Account System, the Bank's real time settlement system introduced in 1998.
Mr Anderson was appointed Chief Manager of the Risk Assessment and Assurance department in March 1999.
He represents the Reserve Bank of New Zealand on the EMEAP Working Group on Payment and Settlement Systems.
Prior to joining the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Mr Anderson held senior positions in the Accident Compensation Corporation and in the Audit Office.
